Member Relief Options for Federal Employees

At Border Federal Credit Union, we are dedicated to supporting our members, particularly during challenging times. To help ease financial stress, we’ve created special relief plans designed to provide flexibility and peace of mind.

Special Furlough Relief Loan

  • 0% APR for the first 60 days

  • 6.88% APR after the initial period

  • Flexible repayment terms up to 18 months

  • Terms and Conditions

      • 0% APR for first 60 days
      • 6.88% APR after 60 days
      • Term of up to 18 months
      • Maximum loan amount is $5,000
      • Loan amount will be based on the member’s net paycheck and require direct deposit at BFCU and automatic loan payments
      • Current members already receiving direct deposit of their net pay at BFCU will automatically qualify for this loan if their BFCU accounts are in good standing. Good standing is defined as a member whose loan payments are not more than 30 days delinquent, share accounts have a current positive balance, do not have any charge-off accounts at BFCU and have not incurred a loss to BFCU at any time.
      • Potential BFCU members will be qualified by using the established loan policies and guidelines for credit approval and using the rates, terms and limits specified above.
      • A loan application form must be completed and signed
      • Must provide employer’s furlough notice

Deferred Payment Plan

  • Defer up to two months of consumer loan payments

  • Available even if a previous extension was used within the past 12 months

  • Terms and Conditions

      • BFCU will defer up to the equivalent of two (2) months of the member’s consumer loan payments
      • This offer may apply even if they already received a payment extension within the last twelve months
      • BFCU loans that do not qualify for this plan are: loans paid ahead more than 90 days, lines of credit, home equity loans, land loans, real estate or delinquent loans
      • A subsequent action form must be completed and signed
      • Must provide employer’s furlough notice

Employer’s Furlough Notice must be provided!

Eligibility requires verification of furlough status. Members must provide a furlough letter from their federal employer.
